Upon completing its twenty-fifth year of publication in 2011, Lutheran Quarterly, Inc. arranged a U.S. seminary lecture tour by Oswald Bayer, a volume of representative essays, and a banquet in appreciation of its donors.  Bayer’s lecture at Luther Seminary, St. Paul (“A Public Mystery,” appearing in the Summer issue), was followed by the banquet at Augsburg College on March 23, 2012.

The Bayer lecture tour also included the Lutheran seminaries in Philadelphia, St. Louis, Chicago, and Ft. Wayne, Indiana. In recognition of the quarter century of Lutheran Quarterly, Managing Editor Virgil Thompson edited a collection of essays representing the doctrinal emphasis of the journal, namely, Justification is for Preaching.

Banquet guests also received a commemorative booklet dedicated to Oliver K. Olson, containing anniversary notes, a twenty-five year index of authors, and a sampling from the companion book.
